Cyprus income tax calculator 2026
Estimate only. General information, not tax advice. This calculator gives a rough figure for a Cyprus tax resident employee using the 2026 rates. It ignores many deductions, allowances and special cases, and nothing you enter is saved or sent anywhere. Check your real tax with a licensed professional.
How the estimate works
- Income tax: the 2026 bands are applied to your chargeable income (salary, minus any exemption, plus rent after the optional 20% deduction). The 20% deduction on gross rent from buildings is given instead of deducting actual repair and maintenance costs.
- Social insurance: 8.8% of salary, on earnings up to €68,904 (2026 ceiling). It is not charged on rent. Employers pay a matching 8.8% plus other funds, which do not come out of your pay.
- GHS (General Health System): 2.65% of salary and rent, on income up to €180,000. Interest and dividend income is also charged at 2.65% but is not included here. The calculator applies it to gross rent; whether it should apply before or after the 20% deduction is to confirm.
- Deductions: if ticked, your social insurance and GHS contributions are deducted from taxable income. These deductions (together with life insurance and pension contributions) are limited to one fifth of chargeable income.
- Exemptions: the 20% and 50% exemptions only apply if you meet their conditions. See our moving to Cyprus guide.
- Not included: self-employed rates, Special Defence Contribution and GHS on dividends and interest, crypto gains at 8%, foreign pensions, family and housing deductions, capital allowances and loan interest on rented property.
